An early, undivided back, colour art postcard featuring the sailing yacht Argonaut. She was built in 1879 as the Norfolk, operated as La Plata for RMSP from 1882 to 1893 and served as the Argonaut from 1898 to 1908. Postally used in Gibraltar in 1904. Card is by David Allen & Sons. A little corner and edge wear with some rubbing to the bottom right corner. A couple of light surface impression lines on the top edge of the card. A light surface bend bottom right and a light surface indentation bottom centre. Album corner marks / impressions. A little light marking / ageing to the front and reverse. (VG-) |
