A company sepia printed postcard featuring the Bremen. She was built in 1900 as the Prinzess Irene for NDL. After a period at the end of WW1 with the US Goverment as the Pocahontas, she was returned to NDL and operated as the Bremen from 1922 to 1928. In 1928 she was renamed Karlsruhe so that the name Bremen could be used for NDL's new liner. Card is postally used in 1924 by a passenger who complains of a terrible crossing with fierce storms and being scared stiff! Card has a nice clear Deutsche Seepost - Bremen - New York cancellation dated 1924. Extremely light corner wear except for a tiny dink to the bottom right corner tip. Extremely light marking to the front and reverse. (VG+) |
