Armourer 1356106 Armourer Armourer Ltd., London A photo postcard by Barnard & Straker of Hull, featuring the cargo ship Armourer. She was built in 1888 as the Engineer, but served as the Armourer from 1898 to 1924 for a variety of owners. Not which owners were operating her when the photo was taken. Her owners were SS Armourer Co Ltd (1898), Armourer Ltd (1909), J. Constant (1913), Thomas Pallister & Co (1915). Very light corner and edge wear. Very light marking to the front. Attendant 1352702 Attendant Elder Dempster A photo postcard featuring the passenger tender Attendant which operated for Elder Dempster in West Africa. She was built in 1913 and served the company until 1934. The annotation to the reverse states that the vessel is leaving Burutu (this could refer to the port town in Nigeria or the Elder Dempster vessel Burutu!), with mails and passengers at Lagos Roads, Nigeria. Light corner and edge wear. Album corner marks / impressions. A few very light surface undulations and impressions. Otherwise very light marking to the front. She was built in 1951 as the Bretagne for SGTM and passed to Chandris (EAL) in 1961. She continued under the same name for the Europe Australia Line until 1962 when she was renamed Brittany. Jebba 1352301 Jebba African Steamship Co/Elder Dempster A sepia toned photo postcard by Balley & Flower featuring the wreck of the cargo ship Jebba at Boat Tail, Hope Cove, near Salcombe, Devon. She was wrecked on 18th March 1907 whilst on a voyage from West Africa to Liverpool. She was built in 1896 as the Albertville for Cie Belge Maritime du Congo and became the Jebba in 1898. Card is postally used in Dartmouth in 1907. Impressed Balley & Flower cachet to the front bottom right. A little corner and edge wear and light album corner marks. Some surface marking top left, with a surface indentation / impression line top left and impression from the postal cancellation. She was renamed Hohenzollern in 1901 and wrecked at Alghero in 1908. Card is by Muhlmeister & Johler of Hamburg and Bremen. Postally used in 1901 at Naples with an Italian postage stamp to an address in Berlin. Heavy impression from a postal cancellation to the front bottom left which has also slightly torn the card within the circle of the cancellation.
