However on closer inspection the name of the ship has been partially overprinted and I think the name on the bow of the ship is either Cedric or Celtic! Afric 1263511 Afric White Star Line A company printed Universal Postal Union art postcard featuring the Afric leaving Melbourne. Art is by Charles Dixon. Postally used in Alfred Docks, 1911 by a passenger. Serrated edge to the bottom. Sadly the card has been trimmed down the left edge (looks like it was done before the card was written by the writing to the reverse). Some corner and edge wear with a knock to the top left corner with some creasing and a light surface bend / crinkle to the bottom left corner. Very light surface crinkles to the top right and bottom right corners. Album corner impressions. A little marking / ageing to the front with a few very light foxing spots. She became the Apollo for Italian owners in 1929. A little corner and edge wear. Note that the white line in the top right corner is in the original photo printing and not a crease. Almeda Star 1269802 Almeda Star Blue Star Line A photo postcard by Feilden of Liverpool, featuring a nice stern view of the Almeda Star. She was built in 1926 as the Almeda and became the Almeda Star in 1929. She was sunk in 1941. Extremely light corner wear. A very light surface impression top left. Amazon 1268101 Amazon Royal Mail Steam Packet Co (RMSP) A company printed art postcard featuring a view of the Social Hall on board the Amazon. Company crest printed to the reverse. Extremely light corner wear. Extremely light album corner marks. A couple of surface marks to the front, one in the bottom left corner and one on the black trousers of the gentleman on the right of the picture. I believe these marks are from the card that was put on top of this card probably shortly after printing when the ink had not properly dried. She was built by Doxford of Sunderland in 1916 and passed through a number of owners before being purchased by the Daghild Canadian Steamship Co in 1923. In 1934 she passed to the Tenax Steamship Co, London. I believe this photo shows her during her period with the Daghild Canadian SS Co, but can't be sure. In 1919 she passed to Cosulich as the Presidente Wilson. She became the Gange for Lloyd Triestino in 1930. In 1936 she was renamed Marco Polo. The card must date from around 1930 as her original name Presidente Wilson has been overprinted at the bottom left edge on the reverse and her new name Gange added. Art is by Klodic.
