Aegir 431402 Aegir D. Hurtley & Sons Ltd., Hull A real photo by Barnard's Studio, Hull featuring the Aegir. She was built in 1912 at Cochrane of Selby for D. Hurtley & Sons, Hull. In 1918 she passed to Cooperative Wholesale Society under the same name. She became the Ville d'Etaples in 1924. A little corner and edge wear and light album corner impressions. A few surface impressions, indentations. Note that the light brown sepia colour marks on the card are in the original printing and look like fingerprints on the original negative. Otherwise a little light surface marking. Inked ship notes to the reverse, otherwise light marking / ageing and a few extremely light foxing spots. (VG-) SOLD!

Postally used on board the Atlantis with a London Paquebot cancellation and a RMSP Atlantis "Posted on the High Seas" cachet dated 1936. (Interesting that the ship was using a cachet with the old company name "R.M.S.P." in 1936 - four years after the company changed it's name to Royal Mail Lines!). Light corner and edge wear, except for a knock and some creasing / crinkling to the top left corner. A couple of light surface crinkles on the left edge. Brasil Maru 1088001 Brasil Maru Osaka Shosen Kaisha (OSK Line), Japan A scarce company art postcard featuring the Brasil Maru at Rio de Janeiro. She was completed late in 1939 and only lasted until August 1942 being torpedoed whilst in use as a troopship. Extremely light corner wear and clean to the front. Bremen 424114 Bremen Norddeutscher Lloyd (North German Lloyd) A colour postcard featuring the Bremen. A pre-printed message to the reverse advertising Caribbean tours. In nice clean condition to the front with minimal corner wear. A tiny surface bend just ahead of the bow of the vessel. Clean to the reverse which is printed upside down. (VG+) £3.49
Bretagne 1086101 Bretagne Europe Australia Line (Chandris Line) A colour printed postcard by J. Arthur Dixon featuring the Bretagne. She was built in 1952 as the Bretagne for SGTM. She was acquired by Europe Australia Lines (Chandris) in 1961 but only carried the name Bretagne for a year before being renamed Brittany in 1962. She only lasted for another year being destroyed by fire in 1963. Very light corner and edge wear. Clean to the front but the hull of the vessel has a light pink discoloration. Very light marking to the reverse with a light foxing mark top left and down the right edge. Size approx 5.75" x 3.9". (VG) RESERVED!

Impression from the postal cancellation bottom left and top right with a little postal ink marking top right. A little marking and a few light foxing spots to the front. The card is made of two thin sheets of card and they are starting to come away from each other in the centre of the card and down the edges. Pencilled message to the front. Postally used in 1908 with a South Australia stamp by a passenger travelling from Melbourne to Adelaide. Very light corner and edge wear. Ships on view are the Dominion Line vessel Cornishman on the left. She was built in 1891 as the Nomadic for the Oceanic Steam Nav Co, becoming the Cornishman for Dominion Line in 1904. She passed to Leyland Line in 1921. On the right of the view is the stern of the Canadian Pacific vessel Montcalm . She was built in 1897 for the African Steamship Co (Elder Dempster) and passed to Canadian Pacific in 1903. She was sold in 1917 to Anglo Saxon Petroleum. A little corner and edge wear with a small crinkle to the top left corner tip. Light album corner marks / impressions. A little surface marking to the front with a little silvering of the photo.
