She was sunk on 21st November 1916 off Kea Island, Greece, soon after this card was written on 27th September 1916, but not postally used. The card mentions that the ship was anchored off "Castle Point" (presume the point off Cowes, Isle of Wight). This would be prior to her penultimate voyage to the Mediterranean from Southampton on 24th September. Very light corner and edge wear and clean to the front with a little very light surface marking and a couple of tiny foxing dots. Very light album corner marks. An early sepia toned photo postcard by A.J. Wellsted of Hull, featuring a nicely view of the Buffalo in Alexandra Dock, Hull. Card shows a wealth of detail on the ship and it's surroundings. The bow of the Doxford Turret ship Pearlmoor of 1905 can be seen on the extreme right of the photo. The Buffalo served the company from 1907 until 1917 when she was sunk by U-70. Card is postally used in 1914. A little corner and edge wear with small dinks to the top left and bottom left corner tips. Light album corner marks / impressions. The Bulgaria encountered a hurricane in the Atlantic in 1899 and was presumed lost. She turned up in the Azores several weeks later and Captain Schmidt was hailed a hero on her return to Germany. Card features views of the Kaiser's visit to the ship and Kapitan Schmidt on the bridge of the vessel. Advert for Mellins food to the bottom edge. A little corner and edge wear and light album corner marks. A little light marking / surface marking to the front. The reverse is printed upside down, with a small collector's cachet top right.
