A photo postcard featuring the USS Leviathan in her wartime dazzle camouflage. Built as the Vaterland for Hamburg Amerika, whe was laid up at Hoboken when WW1 broke out. In 1917 she was seized by the US Government and served as USS Leviathan. She was painted in dazzle camouflage in early 1918 and retained that until being painted grey in December 1918. Light corner and edge wear with light knocks to the top right and bottom right corners. Light surface marking and a few light surface impressions to the front. The reverse is printed upside down with a little marking and age tanning. (VG-) |
