A very early, company printed art card featuring the Dalmatia. She was built in 1871 as the Bahia for Hamburg Sud. She passed to Dampfs-Rhederei Hansa in 1887 becoming the Cremon. She was taken over by Hamburg Amerika in 1892 and then renamed Dalmatia in 1895 serving the company until 1897 when she was sold. As such she is very rarely seen on postcards. Card has been postally used in Hamburg in 1898. Very sadly, I think the card has been very lightly trimmed on both the left and right edges. Otherwise light corner and edge wear except for a crease across the top right corner tip. Very light marking to the front of the card with a couple of very light foxing marks. Very light album corner impressions. Light marking / ageing to the reverse with marks from the inked message to the front showing though. (G+) |
