Adder 985901 Adder G. & J. Burns A lovely, early, undivided back, litho printed company andvertising postcard, featuring the paddle steamer Adder and advertising the Adrossan and Belfast service. She was built in 1890 and sold to Argentinian owners in 1906 becoming the Rio De La Plata. Inked date of 1903 to the front, bottom left. Very light corner and edge wear and very light album corner indentations. Extremely light surface bend bottom right with associated extremely light surface crinkle to the reverse only. Very light marking / ageing to the front with a couple of extremely light foxing spots. A dirty marking in the centre of the reverse and some light marking which looks like some print off an ajacent paper or similar has maked the surface. Otherwise light ageing to the reverse. Edda 6543245 Edda Burmeister & Wain An early, undivided back, printed postcard featuring the paddle steamer Edda of 1893 arriving at Warnemunde. She was built for DFDS by Burmeister & Wain, but rejected by DFDS due to stability problems. She was then chartered to DFDS by the builders from 1893 to 1905. In 1905 she was converted to a cargo ship and became the Kureren (1905-1916) and then Dronning Margrethe (1916-1918). Card is postally used in 1901 at Warnemunde. Very light marking to the front with inked message written around the margins. Very light corner wear with small knock and surface crinkle to the bottom right corner tip.
