She was built for DFDS by Burmeister & Wain, but rejected by DFDS due to stability problems. She was then chartered to DFDS by the builders from 1893 to 1905. In 1905 she was converted to a cargo ship and became the Kureren (1905-1916) and then Dronning Margrethe (1916-1918). Card is postally used in 1901 at Warnemunde.
