A lovely Russian produced real photo postcard featuring the Sergei, presumably stuck in ice. Notice the figures near the stern and also the deck cargo with tarpaulins "Ransomes, Ipswich, England". (Ransomes were a well known agricultural machinery maker who supplied machinery to Russia.). Sergei was built at Earles, Hull, in 1899 as the Castro for T. Wilson. From 1901 to 1919 she served as the Sergei for Riga Schnelldampfer, which later became Helmsing & Grimm. In 1919 she went to Ellerman Wilson Line and was sunk in the River Humber in 1923 following a collision. Light corner and edge wear and light age toning around the edges of the card. A littel light surface marking, mainly only visible when viewed across the light. A little grubby with some age toning, mainly around the edges of the card. (VG-)
