A very early, undivided back, printed postcard, featuring the sinking of the paddle steamer Primus which was sunk in a collision with the Hamburg Amerika tug Hansa in the River Elbe on 20th July 1902. Card is by Thomas Lucke of Hamburg. The Primus was built in 1839 in London. There were 101 deaths as a result of the collision. Card is postally used in August 1902 in Hamburg. Very light corner wear except for a small knock / bend to the bottom right corner tip. Very light album corner impressions. Very light marking / ageing to the front with a small inked annotation to the bottom right corner. Light marking / ageing with some very light foxing dotting to the reverse. (VG)
