Scotland Maru 1201902 Scotland Maru A photo postcard featuring the Scotland Maru packed with troops. She was built in 1919 and in 1919 to 1920 she participated in the evacuation of the Czech Legion troops from Vladivostock, Russia. The Czech Legion were allies of the Russian Tzar before the Russian Revolution and were evacuated from Vladivostock after the revolution succeeded. The Scotland Maru departed from Vladivostock on 25th Sept 1919 and arrived at Trieste with the troops on 8th January 1920. I am assuming this photo postcard shows her arrival at Trieste in 1920. A little corner rounding and edge wear. A little light surface silvering of the photo and a little very light marking to the front. Several light surface undulations of the card. The reverse is printed upside down and has a little marking / ageing and a surface scuff to the centre of the card (may have been stuck to something at one point). (VG-) £8.99
