Asahi Maru 1233412 Asahi Maru A set of five company printed postcards in an original envelope featuring the Asahi Maru. She was built in 1915 as the Italian liner Dante Alighieri of Transatlantica Italiana. She was purchased by Kinkai Yusen in 1928. She served the company until 1939 when she passed to NYK. The cards are as follows : 1. View of the ship in colour - Minimal corner wear. Some extremely light foxing dots to the front, otherwise clean. Very light marking / ageing to the reverse. (VG). 2. Interior view on a vignette art postcard - Minimal corner wear. In nice clean condition to the front. Extremely light marking / ageing to the reverse. (VG+) 3. Interior view on a vignette art postcard - Minimal corner wear. In nice clean condition to the front. Very light marking / ageing to the reverse with some foxing marks and spots. (VG+/VG) 4. Interior view on a vignette art postcard - Minimal corner wear. In nice clean condition to the front. Extremely light marking / ageing to the reverse with a couple of very light foxing marks. (VG+) 5. Interior view on a vignette art postcard - Minimal corner wear. In nice clean condition to the front. Extremely light marking / ageing to the reverse. (VG+) The envelope is rather worn with some staining on the front and age toning, but at least it has kept the postcards clean. SOLD!
Fuji Maru 1208301 Fuji Maru A colour printed company postcard featuring the Fuji Maru of 1937. Ship cachet dated 10th April 1938 (Japanese year Showa 13) to the front top right. Very light corner and edge wear but with a small bend and surface crinkle to the top left corner tip. A little very light surface marking to the front with a couple of extremely light surface foxing type spots. Very light marking / ageing to the reverse with a couple of extremely light surface foxing spots. (VG) £5.99
Nanrei Maru 1263805 Nanrei Maru A sepia company printed postcard featuring the Nanrei Maru of 1924. She served the company until 1939 when she passed to Toa Kaiun KK. She was sunk in 1944. Light corner and edge wear. A small spot in the sky area top right, otherwise very light marking / age toning to the front. A little light marking / age toning to the reverse with a few very light foxing marks. (VG) SOLD!
Yamato Maru 1143008 Yamato Maru A company printed art postcard featuring a vignette of the Saloon on board the Yamato Maru which served the company from 1928 to 1943. Extremely light corner wear. Minimal marking to the front. Name lightly pencilled to the reverse, otherwise very light marking/ageing. (VG+/VG) £11.99
Yoshino Maru 1152014 Yoshino Maru A company printed postcard featuring the Yoshino Maru. She was built in 1907 as the Kleist for Norddeutscher Lloyd, becoming the Yoshino Maru in 1921 for the Japanese Government. She served Kinkai Yusen KK from 1929 to 1939, before transferring to NYK Line. Very light corner and edge wear and very light album corner impressions. Very light marking / ageing to the front.
