Maori King 1191410 Maori King An early, litho printed postcard featuring a view of the Maori King in the Dry Docks at Durban. She was built in 1890 as the Maori King for W.Ross & Co, passing to the Federal Steam Nav Co in 1895. She stayed with them until 1904 when she went to French owners as the Esperance. She reverted to the name Maori King in 1906 for James M. Dow of Shanghai and was wrecked in 1909. Card is by P.S. & C. of Cape Town. Card is postally used in Durban in March 1906. Very light corner wear with a tiny (2mm) edge tear at the top of the left edge and a tiny dink to the top left corner tip. Postal ink marks top right.
