Cornishman / Montcalm 1088813 Cornishman / Montcalm A scarce and superbly detailed and sharp view of the Royal Edward Dock, Avonmouth in this real photo postcard by Garratt. Ships on view are the Dominion Line vessel Cornishman on the left. She was built in 1891 as the Nomadic for the Oceanic Steam Nav Co, becoming the Cornishman for Dominion Line in 1904. She passed to Leyland Line in 1921. On the right of the view is the stern of the Canadian Pacific vessel Montcalm . She was built in 1897 for the African Steamship Co (Elder Dempster) and passed to Canadian Pacific in 1903. She was sold in 1917 to Anglo Saxon Petroleum. A little corner and edge wear with a small crinkle to the top left corner tip. Light album corner marks / impressions. A little surface marking to the front with a little silvering of the photo. Englishman 1088814 Englishman A scarce and superbly detailed and sharp view of the Royal Edward Dock, Avonmouth in this real photo postcard by Garratt. Ships on view are the Dominion Line vessel Englishman being assisted by the Rea tug Hethergarth. The Englishman was built in 1892 as the Ionia for the City of Liverpool Steam Nav Co, becoming the Englishman for Dominion Line in 1899. She sank in 1916. The large vessel in the background is the Canadian Pacific vessel Montcalm . She was built in 1897 for the African Steamship Co (Elder Dempster) and passed to Canadian Pacific in 1903. She was sold in 1917 to Anglo Saxon Petroleum. A little corner and edge wear. Light album corner marks / impressions. Some surface marking to the front. Light marking / ageing to the reverse. Englishman 1088801 Englishman A sepia toned photo postcard probably by Jno York of Bristol, but not marked as such featuring the Englishman. She was built in 1892 as the Ionia for the City of Liverpool Steam Nav Co, becoming the Englishman for Dominion Line in 1899. She was sunk in 1916 by submarine. Some dark marks to the photo, these are part of the original photo and not marks on the card. A little corner and edge wear. Album corner impressions. A small surface crinkle on the bottom edge, centre. Very light marking to the front. The reverse is printed upside down and has light marking / ageing. (VG-) SOLD!
Manxman 1088802 Manxman An early sepia toned photo postcard featuring the Manxman (A ship rarely seen on postcards). She was built in 1888 as the Cufic for the Oceanic Steam Nav Co (White Star Line). In 1901 she became the Manxman for Dominion Line. The card is probably by Jno York of Bristol, but not marked as such. Ship name stamped by the photographer to the front. Some corner and edge wear and album corner marks / impressions. A few surface impression lines bottom left and along the bottom edge. Some surface marking to the front and some sepia spotting to the image. (G) SOLD!
Ottawa 1032304 Ottawa A colour printed postcard by Hugo Lang of Liverpool featuring the Ottawa. She was built in 1874 as the Germanic for White Star Line and served as the Ottawa for Dominion Line from 1905 to 1911. Minimal corner wear. Album corner indentations. Minimal marking to the front. Quite extensive foxing marking to the reverse, otherwise very light ageing. (VG/G+) SOLD!
Regina 1090603 Regina A photo postcard by Robertson of Gourock, featuring the Regina as built for service with the Dominion Line (1922 to 1925). Robertson imprinted signature bottom left corner. A surface impression line from the left edge to the foremast and from there up to the top edge centre. A couple of very light surface undulations. Extremely light corner wear and very light surface marking to the front. Some light stain marks to the reverse with a light brown stain line down the left side. Otherwise a few light marks / age toning to the reverse. (VG-) £5.49
