1190583 | Burdigala | A printed postcard by Ch. Chambon of Bordeaux, featuring the Burdigala at Bordeaux. She was built in 1898 as the Kaiser Friedrich for Norddeutscher Lloyd, but never sailed for them as she failed builders trials. She was laid up at Hamburg until 1912 when she became the Burdigala for Cie Sud-Atlantique. She was sunk in 1916 by mine. Card was postally used in 1912 at Bordeaux. Album corner marks / impressions, mainly top left, with a tiny dink to the top left corner tip. Otherwise extremely light corner wear. A couple of light marks and a couple of very light foxing dots to the front. Extremely light marking / ageing to the reverse. (VG) | £3.49 |
