A photo postcard featuring the early cargo ship Waterville with a large cargo of timber and a slight list! She was built in 1891 and served the company until 1915 when she passed to the New Line SS Co, Leith. She was wrecked in 1917 off Lerwick. Card is postally used in 1908 at Newport, South Wales, I think by someone on board the vessel. Light corner and edge wear. Surface impression from postal cancellation top left. Very light album corner marks. A couple of surface indentations including an indentation line from the bottom edge to the bow of the vessel. A little light surface marking to the front. A little marking / ageing to the reverse. (VG-)
