A sepia printed postcard featuring the Elmina. She was built in 1906 as the Albertville for Cie Belge Maritime Du Congo. In 1910 she became the Elmina and served the company until 1928 when she became the Iphigenia. the card was originally produced for the Albertville, but has been overprinted for the ship's new name of Elmina top right. Postally used in 1911 by someone on board with a Southampton Paquebot cancellation and an Insufficient Postage cachet. Very light corner wear with very light album corner marks. Impression from postal cancellation top left and centre. Otherwise very light marking to the front. Very light marking / ageing to the reverse. (VG) |

An early colour printed postcard featuring the Landana. She was built in 1904 as the Leopoldville. She served the company as the Landana for a short while from 1908 to 1910. She was mined in 1917. Card was postally used in Liverpool by a passenger on board the vessel, but the date is not visible. A little corner and edge wear with a small knock to the top right corner tip and a light bend / surface crinkle to the bottom right corner. Light album corner impressions. Two tiny pinholes one top centre and the other bottom centre on the ship's name (both hardly visible). Light surface impressions to the front from the pencilled writing to the reverse. Otherwise light marking to the front. Light marking / ageing to the reverse with a couple of light foxing marks. (G+) |
