SMS U-118 1219701 SMS U-118 Naval A sepia toned photo postcard featuring the German submarine SMS U-118 ashore at Hastings. She was launched in 1918 and surrendered on 23rd February 1919. She was being towed to France when the tow rope broke and she washed ashore at Hastings on 15th April 1919. She was later broken up. Very light corner wear and light album corner marks / impressions. A little light marking to the front and some surface silvering to the photo. Very light marking / age toning to the reverse. (VG) SOLD!
SMS U9 976810 SMS U9 Naval A patriotic monochrome art card featuring the sinking of HMS Hogue, HMS Aboukir and HMS Cressy in the English channel in 1914 by the German submarine SMS U9. In clean condition to the front with minimal corner wear. A light surface impression / undulation top centre down to the centre of the card. A couple of very light surface bends. SMS U9 / SMS U29 995506 SMS U9 / SMS U29 Naval A sepia printed patriotic postcard featuring the "Exploits of Kapitanleutnant Weddigen". He was the commander of U9 which sank HMS Hogue, HMS Aboukir and HMS Cressy in September 1914 and also celebrating his success as commander of U29 for a short while in 1915 before she was sunk by HMS Dreadnought. Sadly a drawing pin hole bottom right corner tip and some marks / indentations from drawing pins top edge, centre. Otherwise light corner wear and very light marking to the front. SMS V188 1111803 SMS V188 Naval A sepia toned photo postcard by Finke of Wilhelmshaven, featuring the torpedo boat V188. She was built in 1911 and lost in July 1915 being sunk by the British submarine HMS E16. Interestingly the card has a different date for the sinking printed to the front (17th Feb 1916!). Quite a bit of corner and edge wear and a small surface crinkle to the top left corner. A little light marking to the front. Quite heavy age toning and a little marking to the reverse. (G) £2.49
