Bulgaria 6002143 Bulgaria Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) An early printed postcard featuring the Bulgaria "In the utmost emergency launching a lifeboat". On a voyage in February 1899 she encountered a hurricane and she was presumed lost. She turned up in Ponta Delgado, Azores weeks later and her Captain was hailed a hero to get her home. This card was postally used in June 1899. Light corner wear and tiny knocks to the bottom two corner tips. Light marking to the front. Very light album corner indentations. Dalmatia 1046303 Dalmatia Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A very early, company printed art card featuring the Dalmatia. She was built in 1871 as the Bahia for Hamburg Sud. She passed to Dampfs-Rhederei Hansa in 1887 becoming the Cremon. She was taken over by Hamburg Amerika in 1892 and then renamed Dalmatia in 1895 serving the company until 1897 when she was sold. As such she is very rarely seen on postcards. Card has been postally used in Hamburg in 1898. Very sadly, I think the card has been very lightly trimmed on both the left and right edges. Otherwise light corner and edge wear except for a crease across the top right corner tip. Very light marking to the front of the card with a couple of very light foxing marks. Very light album corner impressions. Light marking / ageing to the reverse with marks from the inked message to the front showing though. (G+) SOLD!
Dania 1100501 Dania Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) An extremely early, litho printed, undivided back art postcard by Muhlmeister & Johler, featuring the Dania, very rarely seen on postcards. She was built in 1889 and sold to Cia Trasatlantica in 1895 to become the Montserrat. The postcard was postally used in 1893 to an address in Hamburg, with interesting American commemorative stamps celebrating "Columbus in Sight of Land 1492 - 1892". Some corner and edge wear. Very light surface crinkles across the top left and bottom right corners. Light album corner impressions. A little postal ink marking to the front, top left. Pencilled message in every free space and some light marking / ageing to the front. A little light grubbiness to the reverse. (G+) SOLD!
