A lovely, early, undivided back art card featuring the paddle steamer Prinzess Elisabeth. A scarce card as the vessel only carried this name for the summer season of 1896. She was chartered from SMZ where she operated as the Prinses Elisabeth for the one season in 1896 by Albert Ballin and renamed Prinzess Elisabeth. She reverted to her original name after the charter ended. Card was postally used in Cuxhaven in September 1896 and the message is written in some kind of code to the front of the card. Light corner and edge wear and a little light ageing / marking to the front. The reverse has light ageing / marking and a few very light foxing type marks. (VG)
