Jebba 1352301 Jebba African Steamship Co/Elder Dempster A sepia toned photo postcard by Balley & Flower featuring the wreck of the cargo ship Jebba at Boat Tail, Hope Cove, near Salcombe, Devon. She was wrecked on 18th March 1907 whilst on a voyage from West Africa to Liverpool. She was built in 1896 as the Albertville for Cie Belge Maritime du Congo and became the Jebba in 1898. Card is postally used in Dartmouth in 1907. Impressed Balley & Flower cachet to the front bottom right. A little corner and edge wear and light album corner marks. Some surface marking top left, with a surface indentation / impression line top left and impression from the postal cancellation. In 1925 she was sold to Nippon Kyodo Kisen KK. She was wrecked in 1927 off Sakhalin. Very light corner and edge wear and light marks / impressions from album corner mounts. Kaiser Wilhelm II 1353709 Kaiser Wilhelm II Norddeutscher Lloyd (North German Lloyd) A very early litho printed company postcard featuring the Kaiser Wilhelm II. She was built in 1889. She was renamed Hohenzollern in 1901 and wrecked at Alghero in 1908. Card is by Muhlmeister & Johler of Hamburg and Bremen. Postally used in 1901 at Naples with an Italian postage stamp to an address in Berlin. Heavy impression from a postal cancellation to the front bottom left which has also slightly torn the card within the circle of the cancellation. Extremely light surface crinkle / crease bottom right. Light album corner marks / impressions. A little light postal ink marking top right, otherwise very light marking to the front. Very light surface water stain marking on the top left side of the card down as far as the bow of the ship. Some surface foxing spotting to the front. Konig Albert 1358101 Konig Albert Naval A patriotic art postcard entitled "German steamer Konig Albert captured from the Italians being escorted in the Bay of Kotor". The Norddeutscher Lloyd steamer was seized by the Italians in May 1915 and captured back by Austro Hungarian naval forces in January 1916. Parisian / Bavarian 1364401 Parisian / Bavarian Allan Line An early, undivided back, menu top company printed art postcard from the Allan Line. The ship in the illustration has the troopship identification "No.16" painted on the side which would be the Bavarian which was assigned that number in the Boer War from 1899 to 1902. The menu was printed for use on the Parisian (Built in 1881 and served the company until 1914 - she took part in the search for survivors from the Titanic). A little corner and edge wear with a rough edge to the bottom where it was detached from the menu. Some marking / ageing and staining to the front of the card with a light stain mark in the sky area just above the stern of the vessel. Very light album corner impressions. Peer Gynt 965335 Peer Gynt Reederei Victor Schuppe A lovely company printed art postcard featuring the Peer Gynt. She was built in 1913 for Norddeutscher Lloyd as the Sierra Salvada. She was seized by the Brazilian Government in 1917 and traded as the Avare, being managed by Lloyd Brasileiro from 1920. In June 1922 she capsized in Hamburg and was salvaged and sold to Victor Schuppe. She served as the Peer Gynt for Reederei Victor Schuppe from 1923 to 1925 and was used for cruising in the Mediterranean and Norway. She became the Neptunia for Sitmar Line in 1926. The card shows her in a Norwegian Fjord, but I can't read the artist's name. Postally used in 1926 in Berlin to an address in Hamburg. Very light corner and edge wear. A tiny bend to the bottom left corner tip and a small bend with crease / surface crinkle on the top edge near the top left corner. Very light marking to the front.
