Duke of Clarence 1226526 Duke of Clarence Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway A sepia printed photo postcard from the Photochrom Sepiatone Series, featuring the Duke of Clarence. She was built in 1892 for the Irish Sea services by the L&YR / L&NWR. From 1906 to 1922 she operated for the L&YR on the Hull to Zeebrugge service. In 1922 she transferred to the LMS Railway. Empress of France 1227705 Empress of France Canadian Pacific A company printed art postcard featuring the Empress of France. Art is by Odin Rosenvinge. She was built in 1914 as the Allan Line's Alsatian. In 1919 she became the Empress of France for Canadian Pacific. The card is an old Allan Line card for the Alsatian and Calgarian which has been overprinted to the front with the new company and ship name. The reverse still refers to the Allan Line steamers! Overprint for a Salisbury agent to the reverse. Very light corner and edge wear with light album corner impressions. Very light marking to the front. Extremely light marking / ageing to the reverse. Gibel Sarsar 1210905 Gibel Sarsar Bland Line, Gibraltar A lovely, scarce advertising art card featuring the Gibel Sarsar and asvertising the service between Gibraltar, Tangier and Casablanca. She was built in 1898 as the Isis for P&O and purchased by Bland Line in 1920. She remained in service with them for only 6 years before being scrapped in 1926. Extremely light corner and edge wear except for a tiny dink to the bottom right corner tip. Clean to the front. Very light marking / ageing to the reverse with a little very light foxing marking. She was built in 1893 for the White Star Line, transferring to the Red Star Line in 1907 as the Gothland. She returned to White Star Line, serving the Aberdeen White Star Line from 1911 to 1913 as the Gothic. Very light corner and edge wear but with a small dink to the bottom left corner tip. Hokoku Maru 1219015 Hokoku Maru Osaka Shosen Kaisha (OSK Line), Japan A lovely and scarce company printed art postcard featuring the Hokoku Maru. She was built in 1940 and only served with the company for a very short time before being requisitioned by the Japanese navy in August 1941 for use as an armed merchant cruiser.
