Marechal Petain 903619 Marechal Petain Messageries Maritimes A lovely and scarce company advertising art card featuring the Marechal Petain. Laid down in 1940 she was finally launched in 1944 and towed to Marseill for fitting out. She was scuttled by German forces there and not raised until the war had ended. She was fitted out and renamed La Marseillaise. So as far as I know she never sailed at the Marechal Petain. Art is by E. Lascroux(?). Clean to the front with a small bend to the bottom right corner tip. Light bend down the left edge, with corresponding tiny crinkle on the reverse only. Minimal marking / ageing to the reverse. Size approx 5.75" x 3.75" (VG) SOLD!
