Vaterland 813802 Vaterland Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A lovely sepia photo postcard featuring a busy scene showing the departure of the Vaterland on 25th April 1914, presumably from Hamburg. This is before her sea trials (29th - 30th April 1914) and her maiden voyage (14th May 1914). She had a short life being laid up for most of WW1 in Hoboken from July 1914. In clean condition to the front with very light corner wear. Light surface indentations at the top of the card from postal cancellation. The reverse is printed upside down and has light marking / ageing. (VG) SOLD!

Vaterland 654361 Vaterland Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A sepia toned photo postcard featuring the Vaterland. To the front of the card, the ship details are printed and an advert for Gargoyle DTE Oil which was used on the vessel. Postally used in Hamburg on 29th May 1914, shortly after her maiden voyage on 14th May. she was subsequently laid up in Hoboken in July 1914 and then became the USS Leviathan. Very light corner wear except for a small knock to the bottom left corner tip. Very light marking to the front with a little silvering of the photo. Light marking / ageing to the reverse. (VG) £10.99

Vaterland 6543212 Vaterland Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A sepia printed postcard featuring the Vaterland. Postally used on 12th July 1914 with a U.S. German Sea PO cancellation which was a short while before she was laid up at Hoboken, New York, and being subsequently seized by the US and becoming the Leviathan. Very light corner wear and some postal ink marking to the front, top left and some other light marking. A light surface crinkle across the top right corner tip. A few light surface undulations. Age toning and a little marking to the reverse. (VG-) RESERVED!

Vaterland 6543235 Vaterland Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A scarce sepia toned and lightly faded matt finish photo postcard featuring a nice close up view of the Vaterland. Postally used on 15th June 1914 at New York. She was only in service from May to July 1914, before being laid up in Hoboken during WW1 and then being taken over by America in 1917. Very light corner wear. A little very light marking to the front with small marks on the right edge near the bow of the vessel. A light aurface mark in the bottom right corner. The reverse is printed upside down and has some light surface glue residue marks and surface damage top centre and bottom centre. Otherwise light marking / ageing to the reverse. (VG-) SOLD!

Light corner and edge wear and a tiny knock to the bottom left corner tip. Clean to the front with a couple of tiny marks on the left edge, top. Vaterland 6543570 Vaterland Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A real photo postcard by Zychlinski of Hamburg, featuring the Vaterland at the Blohm & Voss shipyard, Hamburg. Light corner and edfe wear, but a heavy crease and weak corner to the bottom left. Otherwise extremely light marking with a little surface silvering to the front. The reverse is printed upside down and has a collectors cachet in the top right corner. Otherwise light marking / ageing. (G) £5.49
Vaterland 1213801 Vaterland Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A sepia toned printed postcard featuring the Vaterland. Card is by Albert Buttner of Hamburg. She was completed in May 1914 and this card has a pencilled message dated June 1914 to the reverse. Written, but not postally used. Probably sent in an envelope as there is quite a heavy impression from a postal cancellation across the top third of the card. A light surface impression / bend at the top of the first funnel. Otherwise very light marking to the front. A little marking / ageing to the reverse with a couple of tiny foxing spots. (VG-) SOLD!
Victoria Luise 6543156 Victoria Luise Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A scarce company art card by Muhlmeister & Johler featuring the Victoria Luise. She was built in 1900 as the Deutschland. In 1910 she was converted to a cruise ship and renamed Victoria Luise. She operated as such until WW1 when she was converted to an auxiliary cruiser. After WW1 she became the Hansa. Card is postally used in 1913 in the Hudson Terminal, New York. Light corner and edge wear and a small knock / closed edge tear (3mm) bottom right (hardly noticable). Very light album corner marks and a few tiny postal ink marks top left. Minimal marking to the reverse. (VG) SOLD!

In 1910 she was converted to a cruise ship and renamed Victoria Luise. She operated as such until WW1 when she was converted to an auxiliary cruiser. After WW1 she became the Hansa. Card shows her in her white hulled cruising livery. Minimal corner and edge wear. A little light age toning, mainly to the top half of the card, with lighter marking at the corners where the album corner mounts were. Light album corner impressions.
